The Dewar family; Adam Dewar who was a defenseman for the Richmond Sockeyes had nothing but great things to say about this organization.
Once the jersey number's start being assigned I know the Sockeyes are well on the way to building the team for September.
I had intended to get a e-mail off to you much earlier but day-to-day life seemed to get in the way.
The Dewar family wants to let you know we thoroughly enjoyed our time being part of the Sockeye family. Being a Sockeye was an invaluable hockey & life experience for Adam, both on and off the ice. I am somewhat disappointed not to be attending 60 or so games this coming season. It means among other things I will have to do more around the house and perhaps accept some of the Canuck game invitations that I turned down last year, although that's not so bad. I do plan to attend a few Sockeye home games this season. Any padded seats at Minoru in the budget this year?
Doug, along with Maurice,Barry, Gary, Richard, Judd and all the staff, are the reason the Sockeye traditions &culture endure.
You may recall a story I related to you in Thunder Bay that bears repeating. After Adam was first contacted by Richard, I called a friend of ours, Dennis Chambers who at the time was one of the assistant coaches at North Delta to ask him numerous questions about junior hockey; expectations, affiliating, impact on minor hockey status, etc, etc. In addition to answering all my questions and offering some very sound advice, Dennis was very effusive in his praise for the Sockeyes organization. One thing he said that has always stuck in my mind was "... the Sockeyes were the best run Junior B team on the Province and better run than most of the Junior A teams". We would fully concur with those comments.
You can add the Dewar family to the list of Sockeye supporters. Please feel free to add us to the teams mailing/e-mail lists.
All the best for the upcoming season and beyond. I look forward to seeing you at some games in 2010/2011, padded seats or not.
Regards, Roger Dewar
We wish Adam all the best of luck in his up coming season's of hockey and in school. You'll always be a sockeye. Congratulations for taking the next step. The owners, coaches, team and volunteers are proud of him.
